Dropbox, Nest, Evernote and Instagram. You can now add WorkMarket to that list of companies who were recognized as “Cool Vendors” by Gartner. Just last week, WorkMarket was named a “Cool Vendor” in Procurement and Sourcing¹ by Gartner. For years, Gartner’s Cool Vendor program has hand-picked the top companies across more than 90 IT, big data and technology-related topics. Each selection highlights leaders of emerging technology in a particular industry.

Recognition from Gartner, the industry’s preeminent analyst firm, is a tremendous honor that further serves to validate our mission to power the future of work. By 2017, more than 50% of the world’s total workforce will be comprised of independent, non-employee labor. The world of work is changing before our eyes and WorkMarket is committed to building on-demand workforce technology that helps today’s businesses thrive in a modern and unpredictable world.

WorkMarket was the first, and only, Freelance Management System (FMS) to be included in Gartner’s research. The report, authored by analysts Deborah Wilson and Magnus Bergfors, is a great read for enterprises looking to transform how they procure, manage and govern their human capital.

“A recovering global economy is funding innovation that is of interest to procurement, supply chain and IT leaders,” the report reads. “This year’s Cool Vendors are tackling thorny, persistent challenges in the procurement and sourcing technology marketplace with fresh ideas and new capabilities.”

Not only is WorkMarket rapidly defining a business-critical category in the workforce management space, it is indeed changing the way business is done. We’re in the midst of a transformative work revolution, and the emergence on-demand labor will play a major role in that shift for years to come.

“Cool vendors are a signal of what’s coming in the future,” said Gartner’s Marketing VP in an earlier interview. “They show what’s possible in terms of technologies, different approaches and different business models. It’s a way for end-user companies to future-proof their technologies and decide what to invest in for the future.”

Demand for simple, yet powerful freelance management solutions will only continue to grow as more enterprises transition to a flexible, on-demand workforce and seek to stay competitive in a modern world. It feels great to be “cool,” but we’re just getting warmed up!
